When we gave you this news, three years ago, we put an asterisk next to it, promising to check once the second season of Squid Game was released. That moment has finally arrived, after the arrival of the seven episodes on Netflix, and we can therefore confirm: that the platform has really changed that detail that ruined a woman's life for some time. Let's go back to 2021. When the show landed on the streaming platform, a woman named Kim Gil-young began receiving thousands of calls, to the point of finding herself with her phone busy 24 hours a day and her battery constantly flat.

Pranks, threats, messages, and the inability to use her smartphone have become routine, all because of a mistake made by the authors of Squid Game. The phone number shown on the business card that the recruiter of the series uses to enlist players, in fact, was not invented for the show as everyone would have expected. It is an existing number and belongs to the poor unfortunate woman, who after the release of the series saw her life "ruined" due to the constant calls. A nightmare for the woman, who could not even change her number because it was linked to a business that she had been carrying out for over 20 years.

Netflix at the time had promised to remedy the situation and change the scenes that showed that phone number. A promise kept then and respected now because as we have been able to see from the episodes of the second season, in the business card shown at a certain point the number was actually changed. Whether or not it is another number actually in use, however, remains to be seen ... Squid Game 2, the new season of the series has just made history, The craze that broke out three years ago for the South Korean show has not yet passed and Netflix can celebrate!

Those who thought that the success of the first season of Squid Game was an isolated case, mainly due to the period of isolation for the COVID-19 pandemic and the lack of weighty alternatives, must now think again. The new episodes that landed on Netflix on December 26 have in fact confirmed the status of a phenomenon series, immediately conquering sensational numbers. According to what was reported, the debut of Squid Game 2 brought 68 million views in the first four days of availability, more than any other Netflix series has totaled in the first week.

The previous record did not belong to the first season of the South Korean series, but to Wednesday, the show on Wednesday Addams starring Jenna Ortega ready to return soon with a second season which in 2022 had totaled 50.1 million views. At the same time, Squid Game 2 immediately became part of the most popular series among those not in English, placing itself in seventh place: the first season is in first place with 265.2 million views, a figure that these new episodes can easily surpass in the coming weeks.

To give an idea of how many of these first episodes were viewed, just think that the second most-viewed title of the week was the film Carry-On with 34.9 million views. Squid Game 2 has therefore made history again, but the finale has left the field open for new records to be conquered in 2025, when another series of episodes will arrive that - it seems certain by now - will be able to capture the attention of audiences around the world.
