US Box Office | Oceania 2 wins the post-Thanksgiving weekend

No surprises in the US Box Office of the post-Thanksgiving: Moana 2 won ahead of Wicked and Gladiator 2. After the long record-breaking Thanksgiving weekend (our analysis), the North American box office offered new extraordinary statistics also in the post-Thanksgiving weekend; according to the data recovered by BoxOfficePro, in fact, the podium of the last three days has brought in a total of 131 million dollars, higher than the previous record dating back to 2018 (120 million).

Leading this special post-Thanksgiving weekend was once again Moana 2: the Disney animated film grossed another 52 million dollars, with an average per theater of about 12 thousand dollars, and a fairly substantial drop of 63%. Despite the dramatic drop, the new Disney film has totaled $300.03 million, surpassing the first chapter's overall total ($248.7 million). Internationally, Moana 2 has grossed another $103.7 million from over 50 territories, for a total of $300 million; at this point in its run, the film has totaled $600 million in worldwide takings.

Wicked, in second place, has grossed another $34.85 million, with a 57% drop, and a total of $320.5 million; the musical then reached $455.5 million worldwide thanks to the partial estimate of $135 million from international markets. The third position of Gladiator 2 was worth a weekend gross of $12.45 million, for a total of $132.7 million (worldwide is $368.4 million).


US Box Office | Other Films' Takings

Red One has collected another 7 million dollars, for a total of 85.78 million. Paramount brought back to theaters this weekend the famous sci-fi cult Interstellar, the film has collected 4.42 million dollars in 165 theaters available, with an impressive average per theater of almost 27 thousand dollars. Christopher Nolan's film has returned to theaters for its 10th anniversary, and in a 4k version. The apocalyptic comedy Y2K has, finally, grossed 2.1 million dollars at its debut
