Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) "Thunderbolts*" is likely to be a rare "realistic" action movie in recent MCU works. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who plays "Val" Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, revealed this. Val has appeared in "Black Widow" (2021), "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" (2022), and the drama series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" (2021), but her role in this film is slightly different from previous ones. She is a key person involved in triggering the anti-heroes to form a team (although director Jake Schreier denies it meaningfully).

One reason people think she might be a Nick Fury-like presence in Thunderbolts is that Louis-Dreyfus himself has also taken on the action scenes. In Entertainment Weekly, he revealed that he liked the "realistic" action and stunts. "What's great about this movie is that it's realistic and matches the comedy well. Also, it doesn't use a lot of green screens. There are no endless special effects, and the actors do their own stunts. It's a realism that goes back to the basics, so I think everyone will enjoy it very much."

That's because the members of the Thunderbolts don't have any flashy superpowers. Yelena Belova played by Florence Pugh, Red Guardian played by David Harbour, Bucky Barnes played by Sebastian Stan, and John Walker played by Wyatt Russell. Taskmaster played by Olga Kurylenko and Ghost played by Hannah John-Kamen are slightly different, but both of them gained their powers through experiments, and their superpowers are rather down-to-earth. Speaking of "realistic" action in the MCU, Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) comes to mind, and judging from the trailer, the tone of the action and direction seems to be similar to that film.

By the way, Dreyfuss only did one action scene, and he said, "I wanted to do more." "It was cool, and I thought it was perfect because he was wearing a cool black leather coat." The next MCU movies in 2025 are Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*, but the former will feature Red Hulk/Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford, so this one is likely to be a more life-sized comic book movie. This gradation can be said to be one of the charms of the MCU. The movie Thunderbolts* will be released during the Golden Week holidays in 2025.
