The Sonic the Movie series, a live-action film adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog, a hugely popular Japanese game character by SEGA, is sweeping the world. The third film in the series, Sonic x Shadow: Tokyo Mission, which has been well-received, is finally being released in Japan. It has had a big hit start in the US, far ahead of The Lion King: Mufasa, which was released on the same day, once again demonstrating Sonic's popularity. The series is loved by a wide range of audiences, but Ben Schwartz, who continues to voice Sonic in the US in the three films, says with joy that he is most happy when children enjoy it.
"I'm really blessed," Schwartz said in an interview with THE RIVER, in which he answered questions together with Keanu Reeves, who plays Shadow. "I always make a voice message for Sonic. I record a ton of messages every time I'm asked. Even if it's just a little phrase like 'Happy Birthday,' kids love it. It's such a wonderful gift to make someone happy and have them listen to it over and over again." All the kids love Sonic, Schwartz continues. "That's the best thing about playing Sonic. This movie version of Sonic connects with a wide audience and makes people happy and entertains families."
Jeff Fowler, who directed all three films, told THE RIVER that he is equally happy with the reaction from kids. "It's all just so joyous. We're just so grateful that the audience of all ages continues to grow from film to film. We hear stories of kids having Sonic-themed birthday parties. I think it's really ingrained in the culture excitingly and profoundly." For adult movie fans, the fact that they can enjoy the great actor Jim Carrey's lively comedy will be worth more than the price of admission. "Sonic x Shadow: Tokyo Mission" is an entertainment movie that can be enjoyed by a wide range of generations, and is also recommended for parents and children to watch during the New Year holidays.
