Given next year, Warner Bros. has heavily revised the release calendar of some of its most anticipated titles starting with The Batman Part II, the highly anticipated sequel to the acclaimed film by Matt Reeves that launched Robert Pattinson in the role of Bruce Wayne. After the uncertainty of recent months, the release date of the film had been set for October 2, 2026. However, in the last few hours, the major has instead announced that The Batman Part II will be postponed by a year with the release now scheduled for October 1, 2027, with production that should instead officially begin next summer.
The October 2, 2026 slot will therefore be occupied by the new film directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu still untitled starring Tom Cruise. Produced by Legendary, the film will have the most powerful man in the world at its center, who will embark on a frantic mission to prove himself as the savior of humanity before an impending disaster, unleashed by himself, destroys the entire world. In addition to Tom Cruise, the cast will also include Andra Hüller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, and Riz Ahmed.
After The Batman Part II, Robert Pattinson will return as the protagonist in another of the most anticipated films of 2025, namely Mickey 17, whose release on the big screens in the United States has been moved to March 7, 2025. Directed by South Korean director Bong Joon Ho, who already won an Oscar in 2020 with the acclaimed Parasite, Mickey 17 features the unlikely hero, Mickey Barnes (Pattinson), a disposable employee of his company, sent to scout the ice planet Niflheim for future colonization. Every time a replica of Mickey dies, a new clone is regenerated, through a 3D printer, with his memories intact.
Mickey 17's previous release date of April 18, 2025, has now been assigned to Sinners, the horror film written and directed by Ryen Coogler. The film will mark a new reunion between the director and Michael B. Jordan, who will be joined in the cast by Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo. The Creed star will play two twin brothers who, in an attempt to leave behind a tormented past, return to their hometown in the hopes of rebuilding their lives. However, they will discover that an even greater evil awaits them in the city.
