Supernatural, God was always right about THIS detail from many years ago

For the character, that was the most important object in the entire universe, but fans had to wait a long time to confirm it

The complexity of a series can also be assessed by how, years after it aired and with new projects underway, you can still draw the threads together and discover connections and details through the various episodes. This also applies to Supernatural, which over 13 years ago dropped a clue that only came in handy last year. In the fifth season of the series created by Erik Kripke, the last one he directly supervised, the character of Chuck Shurley, aka God in the world of Supernatural, pointed out what he believes has always been “the most important object in the entire universe” – the 1967 Chevy Impala driven by the Winchester brothers.

Together with Sam and Dean, he forms an iconic trio for fans of the series, but he is much more than just a means of transportation. In the finale of that season, it is thanks to the support of that car that Sam manages to regain possession of his body, possessed by the Devil, to stop the demon and prevent the Apocalypse. When Lucifer attacks his brother, it is the reflection of the Impala that allows Sam to return and for this reason, the car is described by God as much more important than it may seem at first glance, fundamental in fact to save the situation... perhaps more than the creator of the world of Supernatural had imagined.

Yes, because if we leap into the alternative universe told in the spin-off series The Winchesters, we discover that it really is like that: that Impala is a very respectable car. In the series set in the 70s and which tells the story of parents John Winchester and Mary Campbell, we discover that among God's plans for the "reboot" of the multiverse, there was the Akrida, a kind of enormous locust that cannot be stopped by anything present in the Winchester universe.

The Impala that Dean drives in John and Mary’s world comes in handy: the mother of the two brothers uses it to run over and kill Queen Akrida (Joan Hopkins) and she manages to do so because technically that car does not come from the sky but from Earth, from an alternate reality that therefore allows her to have power over the monstrous and apocalyptic monster that is endangering everything. Chuck/God was thus more than ever right about that Impala, which saved the world not once but twice: the first in Supernatural, the second in The Winchesters.
