Director Christopher Nolan once again paid great praise to director Denis Villeneuve's "Dune: Part 2". The two trust each other and are now allies. They appeared at a screening event hosted by Warner Bros. and had a passionate discussion about filmmaking. Nolan, who took the stage after the screening, said, "I didn't say it publicly, but I secretly told you, 'I love the previous work, but you ended it just when it was getting difficult to adapt it into a movie.'

" While praising the previous work "DUNE / Dune: Sand Planet" (2021), he also hinted that he felt that "the battle is starting." "I saw the sequel ("Part 2") a few years later, and I thought it was a miraculous film adaptation, with a wonderful ending to the story. I have so many questions about how they managed to do it. For example, Usul, Muad'dib, Paul, and Lisaan al-Ghayb... did they really think we could keep up with all those names for one character? (laughs)" Nolan jokes, but then he corrects himself, "Actually, it's a serious question."

"Most adaptations are about compressing and simplifying the original. But the second film in particular goes a little further, digging into the complex parts and embracing them to create a world that goes beyond the original. How did you do that?" In response to this question, Villeneuve revealed, "We put in a lot of work from the script stage to make it as cinematic as possible without being overly explanatory. The previous film had a lot of explanations, so this time we wanted to do our best." He made sure that the opening of the film would remind the audience of the relationships and settings of the previous film, and that spirit was carried through the entire film in every way.

By the way, Nolan previously said, "If Dune is Star Wars, then Part 2 is The Empire Strikes Back. It's my favorite Star Wars movie, and everything in the previous film is incredibly exciting." In addition, master director Steven Spielberg has also praised this film as "one of the most stunning science fiction films ever made." Dune Part 2 is currently considered one of the leading candidates for the Academy Awards. This conversation between Nolan and Villeneuve was also conducted as part of the promotion for the upcoming awards race, but how successful will it be? At the end of the talk, Nolan reiterated that it was an "amazing film."
