It is now clear that Jurassic World 4, one of the most anticipated films of next year, promises to be an unmissable cinematic event. The relaunch of the dinosaur saga, with Scarlett Johansson at the head of the cast, promises to be one of the biggest box-office successes of 2025. However, many fans of the franchise have wondered how this new chapter fits into the universe of the series. Finally, we have a clear answer. Two years ago, Jurassic World: Dominion was presented as the great final chapter of the saga, but in fact, it only marked the farewell of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard as the main protagonists.
With the official announcement of the title, Jurassic World Rebirth, we now know that the story will be set five years after the events of the previous chapter. This means that we will have to deal with the consequences of what happened in the film directed by Colin Trevorrow. Jurassic World 4: plot and cast: The arrival of Scarlett Johansson in the leading role is not the only novelty. At the helm, we find Gareth Edwards, known for having directed films such as Godzilla and The Creator, a choice that promises a visually spectacular and tension-filled approach. In addition to Scarlett Johansson, the cast also includes well-known names such as Jonathan Bailey (fresh from the success of Wicked), Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo.
The story takes place five years after the events of Jurassic World: Dominion. During this time, the planet's ecology has become increasingly inhospitable to dinosaurs, which now survive only in isolated equatorial environments, with climates similar to those in which they once thrived. At the center of the story are three colossal dinosaurs who live in these tropical biospheres and who hold the genetic key to developing a miracle drug capable of bringing enormous benefits to humanity. Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a black ops expert assigned to lead a specialized team on a dangerous, top-secret mission. Her task is to obtain genetic material from the three largest dinosaurs in the world.
However, the mission takes an unexpected turn when Zora's group collides with a family of civilians whose boat has been wrecked due to an attack by predatory aquatic dinosaurs. Trapped together on a mysterious island, the characters discover a disturbing and shocking secret that has remained hidden from the world for decades. This plot is not a simple reboot of the franchise, but rather an evolution that introduces a significant time jump. Thanks to this choice, screenwriter David Koepp (already author of the screenplays of Jurassic Park and The Lost World) has had greater creative freedom to develop this new adventure.
Jurassic World Rebirth will be released in theaters on July 2, 2025.
