This face of the series leaves no room for redemption or understanding

Daemon Targaryen is undoubtedly one of the most complex and controversial characters of House of the Dragon. In the book Fire & Blood, he is described as a man “made of equal parts light and darkness”, but in the television series, the creators chose to highlight mainly his dark sides. Despite this, Daemon remains an enigmatic character, difficult to label as totally good or totally evil, and his unpredictable nature is what makes him fascinating and, at the same time, dangerous. Some viewers are attracted by his boldness and his qualities as a leader, while others consider him too violent and selfish. However, despite his cruelty, Daemon cannot be considered the worst of the characters created by George R. R. Martin.
Many other characters in the Game of Thrones universe have committed far more serious and immoral acts than the Rebel Prince. While Daemon may be ruthless and driven by his own interests, he is still capable of acts of loyalty, particularly towards his family and his soldiers, which are traits that set him apart from other, more inhuman characters. The fact that he feels love for his family and those close to him, while not sparing cruelty, makes him a more nuanced character, who defies traditional categories of good and evil. His loyalty to those he deems worthy of trust is an aspect that helps balance out his darker actions.
Westeros has known much worse individuals, however: among them, Ramsay Bolton certainly stands out, who perfectly embodies absolute evil. Son of Roose Bolton, his cruelty far exceeds that of his father. From a young age, Ramsay developed a sadistic pleasure in spreading fear, a trait that defines his personality and makes him a deeply disturbing individual. His childhood and upbringing lead him to emotional isolation, where violence and manipulation are the only tools he knows to get what he wants.
His behavior becomes even more disturbing when he reflects on his treatment of those around him. After the death of his lover Myranda, Ramsay remembers how she was the only person who was not afraid of him, a thought that torments him. However, his behavior after Myranda's death is cold and callous: when his Master suggests that he bury her, he unscrupulously orders that she be fed to the dogs, an act of extreme cruelty that underscores how his humanity has now been suppressed by his thirst for power and will to dominate.
Another of his most horrific acts involves Theon Greyjoy, one of the most unfortunate prisoners in the history of Westeros. After capturing Theon, Ramsay subjects him to a cruel psychological game, making him believe he is his savior, and then takes him to the Bolton castle, where Theon's torture and dehumanization begin. Ramsay exploits Theon's weakness to break him psychologically, inflicting mental and physical torture that culminates in one of the most shocking scenes of the series: Theon's castration. This is not only an act of physical violence, but a real annihilation of a man's dignity, an attempt to destroy all hope and identity. Ramsay Bolton's brutality and madness make him one of the most hated and feared characters in Game of Thrones, a character who embodies the essence of evil without any justification or moral qualms.
In short, while Daemon Targaryen is certainly a complex and ambiguous character, Ramsay Bolton represents a form of pure evil, a character who leaves no room for any redemption or understanding. His cruelty knows no bounds and makes him one of the worst antagonists Westeros has ever seen.
