After the announcement of the first actor involved in the cast, the guessing game has begun for the new Harry Potter TV series, ordered by Warner Bros. and HBO for 2026. The production, in fact, has announced that, while the parts of the young protagonists will go to small emerging actors, for the adult roles British actors of a certain caliber will be selected. And it seems that even the beloved faces of the film saga want to have their say! Interviewed by Watch What Happens Live, Ralph Fiennes, the historic interpreter of the villain Lord Voldemort, has officially given his blessing to his "successor", indicating who in his opinion would be the most suitable to cover the part.

His choice fell on Cillian Murphy, winner of an Oscar for his performance in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. The star's name has been circulating for some time, between rumors and fan-casting, and now it's also Fiennes-approved: «Cillian is a fantastic actor. It really is a perfect suggestion. Yes, I would be thrilled if he were chosen». But the actor, who played Voldemort in the Harry Potter films starting with The Goblet of Fire, does not even rule out the possibility of returning in person. Already in 2022, he had confirmed that he would gladly play "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" in a possible reboot, also taking a stand in defense of the controversial figure of the writer J.K. Rowling:

«I would definitely come back. […] Rowling has written great books about kids growing up and finding their identity as human beings. The theme is how you become better, stronger, morally stable men and women. The insults and accusations they are making against her are disgusting, they leave me speechless". For the moment, the only name associated with the Harry Potter TV series is that of the English actor Mark Rylance, an Oscar winner for Steven Spielberg's Bridge of Spies, who is said to be Warner Bros. Television's favorite to play the headmaster of Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore.

For Harry, Ron, Hermione, and their friends, a casting call was opened last September: they are looking for children between the ages of 9 and 11, without distinction of ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and gender identity. The TV series, let's Remember, aims to give fans a more faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling's books, compared to the famous film adaptation. Francesca Gardiner will be in charge, while Mark Mylod will be the director of several episodes and the executive producer. Filming is expected to begin in spring 2025, with the first season set to hit HBO in 2026.
