Luke and Lorelai, the most beloved couple of Gilmore Girls, surprised fans by reuniting in a commercial for Walmart, a full 17 years after the series finale and eight years after the Netflix revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Along with the actors Lauren Graham and Scott Paterson, Sean Gunn also reprised his role as the eccentric Kirk, bringing viewers back to the magical atmosphere of Stars Hollow. The 30-second commercial opens with Kirk delivering a package to Luke's diner, where Lorelai arrives for her usual dose of coffee. The ever-solicitous man has already gotten her a coffee machine, joking that it could ruin him.

The scene ends with an exchange of affectionate glances under the snow, sealing once again their solidity as a couple. You can watch the video of the reunion between Lorelai and Luke HERE! In an interview with People, Lauren Graham defined the return to Stars Hollow as "always a little surreal" because it brings to mind the many moments experienced on the original set. Scott Patterson also shared his enthusiasm, describing his colleague as "my favorite scene partner of my entire career". Despite the absence of Alexis Bledel, who played Rory, the commercial still gave fans a nostalgic and emotional moment.

The relationship between Luke and Lorelai was, not surprisingly, one of the most loved and discussed aspects of Gilmore Girls, especially for the long and troubled path that led them from being simple friends to falling in love. The two had their ups and downs throughout the original series' seven seasons, but in the revival, they finally got married, a decade after they started dating. When it comes to a possible return of the series, Graham and Patterson agree: it all depends on creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and husband Daniel Palladino. "If anyone can write a compelling story for these mature characters, it's Amy and Dan," Patterson explained.

"I can't even imagine how they would do it or what it would look like, but I'm sure it would be great either way." The actress also added some thoughts on the characters' future, especially after the revival's final reveal that Rory is pregnant: "They're likely the same ones," the actress speculated. "I don't think Lorelai left the country to find herself or anything like that. She probably runs a second hotel and still stops by Luke's every day for coffee, unless she makes it at home with the gift Luke gave her." Patterson agreed, noting, “I think the appeal of these characters is that as they get older, you can count on them never changing.” For those who want to relive the excitement of Gilmore Girls, the series is available to stream on Netflix.
