Fallen, the long-awaited series based on the young adult fantasy literary saga of the same name born in 2009, is preparing to debut in our country in December in streaming exclusively on RaiPlay. The literary saga born from the pen of Lauren Kate has proved to be a true literary phenomenon since the beginning with over 10 million copies sold worldwide, of which over 1 million sold in Italy alone. Sensational numbers that have opened the doors to the world of television series and that have led to the creation of one of the most anticipated shows of the last months of 2024
The series created by Claudia Bluemhuber, previously producer of The Host and Under the Skin, is described as "a dark journey between faith, redemption, and eternal love that sees two young fallen angels, Luce and Daniel, trapped by a thousand-year-old curse that always leads them to a dramatic ending." You can find out more details about the plot thanks to the official synopsis of the series, which reads as follows: Fallen tells the story of Lucinda "Luce" Price, a seventeen-year-old tormented by visions of disturbing Shadows since she was young. Wrongly accused of having committed a horrible crime, Luce is transferred to the Sword & Cross detention facility, where she meets Daniel, an enigmatic young man who seems to have known her forever.
With its suggestive setting immersed in a gothic atmosphere, the Sword & Cross presents itself as a disturbing place that exerts a dark charm. If at first everything seems harmless, the Sword & Cross will soon reveal itself as a real psychiatric prison, a dark "cathedral" that protects the secrets of angels and men. Between visions, flashbacks of past lives, and desperate escapes, Luce "the Angel of Love" and Daniel "the Guardian Angel" will discover that they are trapped in a cycle of lives marked by a tragic curse that has lasted for millennia, condemned to always relive the same tragic ending.
The direction was entrusted to Matt Hastings, known to the general public for his work on other much-loved series such as The Handmaid's Tale and Shadowhunters. Fallen also sees the involvement of a cast full of big names. Among them are Jessica Alexander (Into the Deep, The Little Mermaid) in the role of Lucinda "Luce" Price; Gijs Blom (The Letter for the King) in the role of Daniel Grigori; and Timothy Innes (The Last Kingdom) as Cameron “Cam” Briel. They are also joined by Alexander Siddig and Sarah Niles as Howson and Miriam / Sophia, respectively. Fallen is expected to stream exclusively on RaiPlay starting Friday, December 6.
