The last episode of Dragon Ball DAIMA, the new anime of the franchise created by Akira Toriyama, really ended with a bang. The series, which stars Goku and his friends back in child form, has in fact decided to give long-time fans an event they have been waiting for for almost thirty years: Vegeta's transformation into Super Saiyan 3! Although his strength has grown over the seasons to almost equal that of Goku, Vegeta has never reached this level of transformation. Paradoxically, we have seen him become Super Saiyan 4 and Super Saiyan God and Blue, but up until now in the anime, we had never been shown his version of Super Saiyan 3.

Well, Dragon Ball DAIMA has finally satisfied fans thanks to the twelfth episode, entitled True Strength. During his fight with Tamagami #2, Vegeta falls into the water, where he risks being devoured by a powerful Kraken. To free himself from his opponents, he is forced to transform first into a Super Saiyan and then into a Super Saiyan 2. At this point, noticing that he and Tamagami are at the same level, Neva powers up the latter, who briefly manages to knock Vegeta out. When he wakes up, enraged, he finally manages to unlock the transformation into Super Saiyan 3, defeating his enemy.

A moment that fans had undoubtedly long-awaited, considering that Goku managed to do it already in the Majin Buu saga. At the same time, some viewers have noted how the choice to have it happen for the first time in Dragon Ball DAIMA created a plot hole with the Super series, and in particular with the film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. Here, in fact, after the god of destruction, Beerus hits his wife Bulma, Vegeta lashes out against him using all the power at his disposal and transforming into the highest level accessible to him: Super Saiyan 2. It is also stated that, albeit for a brief moment, Vegeta manages to surpass the power of Goku Super Saiyan 3, because he fights for a good cause, that is, to defend the person he loves.

The inconsistency comes from the fact that Dragon Ball DAIMA takes place before Super; therefore, in light of the new revelations, the highest level transformation accessible to Vegeta should have been Super Saiyan 3, and not 2, especially against a practically unbeatable opponent like Beerus. In short, once again this retcon has created a small plot hole, but nothing that can't be overlooked, considering how much fans have been waiting for this moment.
