The near future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe now seems well-defined, but it is not excluded that there could be surprises here and there along the way. Fans are now waiting not only for Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*, but also for the new Fantastic Four film and of course Avengers: Doomsday in which Robert Downey Jr. will be seen again as Doctor Doom. All probable stories of good versus evil, but what if a brutal clash between two beloved heroes were to arrive on the big screen?
The latest rumors point precisely in that direction. According to what was reported by the insider MyTimeToShineHello, known for his often spot-on revelations coming from the Marvel environment, the studios are planning to put together a film that will pit one against the other... Hulk and Wolverine! Obviously, there are no details available on the issue because at the moment it is only a rumor, so every theory seems valid: could it be two variants from different universes?
Will their clash take place after Avengers: Secret Wars? At the moment it is difficult to even imagine that the same Mark Ruffalo and Hugh Jackman could battle it out, but the former probably can't wait to finally see a film as a (co)protagonist and the latter has reappeared in the franchise thanks to Deadpool & Wolverine and his return is not excluded. It would not even be the first time for the two characters: Wolverine has in fact clashed with the Hulk several times and in fact, his first appearance was in The Incredible Hulk vol. 2 #180 in 1974.
Subsequently, the pair was also the protagonist of the miniseries written by Damon Lindelof in 2008, Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk, in which the Green Giant is sentenced to death for killing more than 800 people and Logan is given the mission to find Bruce Banner. A few months ago, Hugh Jackman admitted that "there is no doubt that Wolverine will fight the Hulk sooner or later", but who knows if it wasn't more than a joke. What do you think? Could we really see a Marvel movie like this? Would you like it? Let us know, as always, in the comments.
