It has been revealed that reshoots for the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film, Captain America: Brave New World, will be carried out three months before the film's release. Giancarlo Esposito, who will be making his first appearance as Sidewinder, has acknowledged this.
On November 1, 2024, Esposito appeared at an event held at Pennsylvania State University, and reflected on the filming of this work, saying, "I'm really glad I was on set," and "I'm going back to the set next week to shoot a little more. I'm really looking forward to wearing that costume again." It appears that adjustments to the work, including new filming, were necessary during the post-production process.
For Captain America: Brave New World, the main filming took place from March to June 2023, and then about three weeks of reshooting took place in late May 2024. Matthew Orton, the screenwriter for "Moon Knight" (2022), was appointed as the new screenwriter, and Esposito will be participating in the reshooting. Tim Blake Nelson, who plays The Leader, said in a September interview that "most of the film was reshot in early summer," so it is believed that major revisions were made at this time.
What is disturbing is that there are rumors that the reaction of attendees at the test screening of this film in early October was poor. Of course, this is a story with little credibility, so there is no need to speculate, but the fact is that reshooting is still ongoing. However, it is common for Marvel Studios to adjust their works until the last minute, and it is the "MCU style" of filmmaking to incorporate reshoots and additional shooting into the production process in advance.
As previously reported, this film will feature Falcon/Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), who has taken on the name of the new Captain America, as the protagonist, and will depict the battle between people over the super metal adamantium. The cast includes Anthony Mackie, Giancarlo Esposito, Tim Blake Nelson, Harrison Ford as U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, and Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres. Captain America: Brave New World will be released in Japan and the U.S. on Friday, February 14, 2025.
