The US Box Office could register with Red One as another important flop in 2024 poor in great satisfaction.

The Amazon Christmas blockbuster “Red One” debuted yesterday in the US during the classic Thursday previews. In this regard, the deadline reported that the Christmas-themed film with Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans grossed only 3.7 million dollars, and is heading towards a debut weekend between 30 and 35 million. The film cost a whopping 200 million. The commercial operation wanted by Amazon MGM Studios, with a theatrical release before the more classic release on Prime Video, seems to be heading towards what everyone now considers a flop.
Red One also debuted in 75 international markets and only grossed 27 million dollars. Too little! Another sore point, then, comes from the appreciation of the critics: on Rotten Tomatoes, in fact, the film has obtained only a paltry 34% of positive reviews (by the way, this is ours), in line or almost with the latest results obtained by the blockbusters interpreted by the same protagonist Dwayne Johnson (Rampage 51%, San Andreas 48% and Black Adam 39%). Could it be a coincidence?

The film was directed by Jake Kasdan from a screenplay written by Chris Morgan, based in turn on an original story written by Hiram Garcia. IN THE CAST Chris Evans, Dwayne Johnson, Kiernan Shipka (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), J.K. Simmons, Nick Kroll, Kristofer Hivju, Wesley Kimmel, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, and Lucy Liu. Producers include Hiram Garcia, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions, Chris Morgan of Chris Morgan Productions, and Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar of The Detective Agency. EPs are Barry Waldman and Ainsley Davis of Chris Morgan Productions, with John Wildermuth and Sky co-producing Salem Robinson of The Detective Agency.
Warner Bros. Pictures will handle international distribution as part of its overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios. The Official Plot: In the film, the North Pole’s security chief (Dwayne Johnson) must team up with the untrustworthy Jack O’Malley (Chris Evans) to save Santa Claus (J.K. Simmons) from kidnapping. Red One will hit theaters on November 14, 2024, and will later arrive on Prime Video.
