While most analysts were expecting Deadpool & Wolverine to top the US Box Office for the third consecutive time, the drama starring Blake Lively (who is also Ryan Reynolds/Deadpool’s wife) on Friday punched the likely winning ticket to the top of the weekend. According to data provided by The Numbers, It Ends With Us grossed an estimated $24 million on Friday (including previews), starting straight at the top of the box office. With a start like this, analysts seem more than convinced that the film can easily open the weekend with around $50 million, well beyond the rosiest pre-release expectations.

For its part, Deadpool & Wolverine grossed another 15.68 million dollars, for a total of 455.33 million, in full swing towards the incredible figure of 1 billion dollars globally (we talked about it in this article). Third place on the podium went to Twisters with 4.42 million dollars (total 211.69 million). Those who are certainly not doing well, indeed are in the front row towards the more than probable “flop”, is Borderlands capable of collecting a “0%” score on Rotten Tomatoes at its debut.

Friday's box office data speaks clearly: the 4 million dollars grossed at most will bring 10 million over the weekend. The film with a budget of over 120 million dollars is therefore on its way to being one of the biggest disappointments of 2024, but also one of the worst regarding the “moviegame” genre. Finally, the indie horror film “Cuckoo” also debuted on Friday with an equally disappointing $1.35 million in 1,500 theaters. In this case, however, we are talking about a low-budget film that, at worst, “will be a success“!
