Ahead of the release of the new HBO original series The Penguin, Warner Bros. Pictures has announced the return of The Batman to select theaters for a special one-night-only event. On Wednesday, August 28, moviegoers in the United States will have the opportunity to relive the adventures of Gotham City, reinterpreted with Robert Pattinson in the role of the Dark Knight. The initiative will also extend to international theaters during the same period.

The event will not be limited to the screening of the film: it will also include a special behind-the-scenes look at the making of The Penguin, with a Q&A session featuring series star Colin Farrell and key creators. These include executive producers Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark, showrunner Lauren LeFranc, and the director of the first three episodes, Craig Zobel. Jeff Goldstein, President of Domestic Distribution, and Andrew Cripps, President of International Distribution at Warner Bros.

Pictures expressed their excitement for the event. Batman was a huge box office hit in 2022, grossing over $772 million worldwide. This special screening allows fans to relive the film on the big screen before the new series debuts. The eight-episode series, produced by Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, will debut on October 19, 2024, on HBO and streaming on Max. The story will pick up right where The Batman left off, focusing on the character of Oz, aka The Penguin, played by Colin Farrell.

In addition to the screening, event attendees will receive a mini-poster featuring exclusive artwork, while supplies last. The event is presented in partnership with AMC and Dolby, with the film screening in Dolby Cinema at AMC locations in the United States and in Dolby Cinema and Dolby Atmos formats internationally in the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, and South Korea.
