Kit Harington, known for his iconic role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, recently revealed in an interview with the Associated Press that he can't watch the prequel series House of the Dragon. After eight seasons spent in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, the actor said he feels a certain saturation towards that world, despite the great critical and public success obtained by the new series. Game of Thrones, broadcast from 2011 to 2019, saw Harington play one of the most beloved and central characters in the saga.

"I just can't watch it," Harington confessed. “For me, I just spent too much time on it. And I wish them the best. I’ve heard that it’s wonderful and it’s doing really well, but I don’t think I’ll ever watch that show again. And I don’t think I’ll watch Game of Thrones again for a few years.” Harington was set to reprise his role as Jon Snow in a sequel that would follow the character’s adventures after the end of Game of Thrones. However, the project was shelved, as Harington himself confirmed to ScreenRant: “We decided to put the tools down, temporarily. There may be a time in the future when we return to it, but right now, no; it’s firmly on the shelf.”

In a recent interview with Collider, the Game of Thrones star explained why he feels a prequel like House of the Dragon is a more natural fit than a sequel. “I think a prequel is a natural thing to do. They did it with Better Call Saul, they did it with House of the Dragon. With a sequel, you use up a lot of that inventory. A lot of the cast members are done with that at that point. So, who are you bringing back? Are you bringing the same people back? So, no, it doesn’t surprise me that a prequel is something easier to do actually. That doesn’t make it easier to do, but it’s a more natural direction to go.”
