There is still much time left until its release, scheduled for February 12, 2025. Still, Marvel did not want to wait any longer (and we will soon have Comic-Con) to launch the first trailer of one of the most anticipated films of Phase 5: Captain America: Brave New World. The film introduces the new patriotic hero of the Marvel universe, with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) becoming a full-fledged Captain America (something previewed at the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) but, as he reminds President Ross ( Harrison Ford), “he's not Steve Rogers”.
Harrison Ford makes his Marvel debut as Thaddeus Ross, a character previously played by the late William Hurt. Apparently, the former military man wants to bring Cap into his presidential entourage, as part of his program to change the world. In the cast we will also see Danny Ramirez as Joaquín Torres alias the new Falcon, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns alias Leader; Shira Haas as Ruth aka Sabra and Liv Tyler as Betty Ross. Xosha Roquemore, Seth Rollins, Rosa Salazar, and Giancarlo Esposito also round out the cast.
Directed by Julius Onah, Captain America: Brave New World is the penultimate film of Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it seems that, among other things, it will connect not only with the subsequent Avengers films but also with Thunderbolts, which will be released the following May. The trailer arrives just weeks before the release of Marvel Studios' next film, Deadpool & Wolverine, and before San Diego Comic-Con, where a preview of upcoming films is expected.
