With three months to go before the release of The Penguin, the series derived from The Batman focused on the mobster played by Colin Farrell, on HBO and Max, the production has received a new trailer. Check it out below. The Penguin series takes place one week after The Batman and will have the Penguin (Farrell) competing for power in Gotham's criminal underworld with Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti), heir to her father, Carime (John Turturro), who died at the hands of Charade in the movie.
Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Michael Zegen, and Deirdre O’Connell are also in the cast, which features Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni. Lauren LeFranc is responsible for the production script. Matt Reeves, director of the film, and producer Dylan Clark will be the executive producer of the series that will address the rise of the villain in the world of crime with the return of Farrell. Penguin premieres in September 2024 on HBO and Max and could be the first of some spin-offs from The Batman.
In addition to the continuation of The Batman, the Gotham City universe created by Matt Reeves will be expanded with a series focused on Colin Ferrell's Penguin and Arkham Asylum, where the Riddler is imprisoned at the end. To top it off, the director also explores the idea of making films about other villains of the hero. Released in Brazilian cinemas in 2022, the new Batman puts Robert Pattinson as a young Bruce Wayne, in his first years as the Dark Knight.
Zoë Kravitz is Catwoman, Colin Farrell is the Penguin, Paul Dano plays the villain Riddler and John Turturro is Carmine Falcone. Jeffrey Wright was the new Commissioner Gordon and Andy Serkis plays Alfred. In the recent Planet of the Apes trilogy, Matt Reeves is the director. The story features a younger Batman (Pattinson), at the beginning of his career, facing the villain Riddler (Dano) for the first time, here presented more as a Zodiac-style serial killer than a madman fascinated by enigmas. The Batman is available on HBO Max. The Batman: Part II premieres in October 2026.
