Disney & Pixar's latest film Inside Out 2 has been an astounding hit. Two weeks after its release in the US, it surpassed the global cumulative box office gross of the sci-fi blockbuster Dune Part 2, becoming the biggest hit movie of 2024. Inside Out 2, the sequel to Inside Out (2015), released for the first time in nine years, was released in the US on June 14th. The initial results showed a big hit start, the biggest since the No. 1 movie of 2023, Barbie.

According to Variety, the worldwide box office gross has exceeded $724 million. It earned $355 million in the US and $369 million overseas. Outside the US, it has been a hit in Mexico, the UK, South Korea, Germany, and Brazil. Japan, where the film is scheduled to be released on August 1, is reportedly the "last major market."

Sales for this film are growing at an astonishing rate, and it is expected to be the first film released in 2024 to surpass $1 billion. It is said that people are particularly fond of watching it on IMAX screens, and the increase in average customer spending is also a major factor in boosting sales. This film will likely herald the return of Disney and Pixar, whose box office results have been in a slump in recent years following the COVID-19 pandemic.
