The film will be released exclusively in theaters on July 24. Marvel Studios has released a new one-minute teaser trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine, offering the first look at the film's version of Sabretooth. Posting the trailer on social media, star Ryan Reynolds joked, "I don't think we can add another 'e' to the title."
Deadpool and Wolverine is written by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and Shawn Levy.
Sabretooth is played by Tyler Mane, who originated the role in X-Men. Mane has not reprised the role since, with Liev Schreiber playing him in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but he has remained active in the superhero genre with roles in Jupiter's Legacy and Doom Patrol. In the comics, Sabretooth is Wolverine's archenemy, sharing his healing factor and claws with him. Originally, Chris Claremont had thought of Sabretooth as Logan's father, but this idea was never made official, and subsequent writers have contradicted it. Sabretooth first appeared in Iron Fist #14 in 1977, becoming inseparable from Wolverine and the X-Men starting in the mid-1980s.
In Deadpool and Wolverine, Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) will change the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe together with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). The film will also star Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox and Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova. Returning are former Deadpool stars Morena Baccarin (Vanessa Carlysle), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Stefan Kapičić (Piotr Rasputin/Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Rob Delaney (Peter) and Lewis Tan (Shatterstar). Aaron Stanford will reprise his role as Pyro from the X-Men film series, and Jennifer Garner is rumored to return to the role of Elektra Natchios.
